Announcement from Chris White...

I have sold my shop Mountain Trax as a going concern. I’m pleased and proud to tell you Paul Howard my right hand man since 2008 has taken it on. Paul and I have worked well together and is jointly responsible for the success over the recent years. I wish him and the team all the best for the future.

  I’d like to say thankyou to all our customers over the years that have supported us, please may it continue. A few more special thankyou’s;

- To Jim Bowen for putting a good word in when you worked as a Saturday boy to help me get a job at Mountain Trax, and all your efforts in making the Mountain-Trax.com website get going.

- My parents for believing in me to make a go of running my own business and lending me the money to do so, thank you. It did get me out of the house :)

- John Newport for all that early advice on how to run a business. I could build a bike, fix a bike and sell a bike, but needed some help to make a business run.

- There are so many more people to thank; Jon Lucas, Chris Durdle and Darren Winnett for interior building work & fitting out the shop over the years.

- Lastly I’d like to thank the Hoy family, especially Rod our landlord. Never a dull moment, positive, funny and highly skilled he transformed the building where Mountain Trax stands today from a bare carpet storage unit into the building you see now.  We’ve been treated very well by a fantastic landlady and landlord, and are very lucky to have such a good destination store location.

  I’ve had a great time working in the early days and then learning the ropes as an owner of a bicycle shop since 2005. I’ve worked with some great people and had a lot of laughs.  I’ll be off to spend some time with family now and making plenty of time for riding. My passion is racing so I have some plans there too ;).    You’ll also see me still sporting the Mountain Trax Team Kit.

  Everyone have fun, take care and no doubt I’ll see a lot of you on the trails or at events. Remember support your bike shop and they’ll support you.

  Cheers, be safe.

Comment from Paul...

  Chris gave me the opportunity to join him at Mountain Trax in 2008 and it's been quite the journey. Following my twenty years in the high tech world of the electronics industry this was my first job within retail with lot's to learn, fortunately Chris had all the knowledge to impart. All those years working alongside each other and driving the business forward has enabled me to take this opportunity to purchase Mountain Trax as a going concern.

Myself and the staff are looking forward to an exciting future as the cycle industry thrives into 2021. We have already made changes instore to improve customer service and efficiency and look forward to seeing customers and suppliers again soon.  Note the store will continue the opening hours we changed to in March 2020, opening Tuesday to Saturday 9am-5pm, with the webstore open 24/7.

Our thanks and best wishes go to Chris and his family.
