British Mountain Bike XC & Trek Marathon, Round 5
Coed-y-Brenin, Wales: 22-23/09/07
We made the long trip up to CyB on Friday for a great weekend of racing, socialising and playing on the manmade trails; Dragons Back, The Beast and The Tawr (used for the race). All great fun and despite the wet conditions they rode excellently. It was like an end of term party feel all weekend, somewhat owing to the good, the bad and the downright silly, briefly...
...the 'Team' bungalow... late night channel Hopp[y]ing on the TV... a 20 minute climb... rocky descents... very fast... sometimes too fast... snakebites galore (Warren, Ben, Paul)... retirements... streams for fireroads... surprisingly grippy wet rocks... constant drissle... finishing... burgers, flapjacks, crepes... yummy... welsh nightlife... 'Team' taxi drivers... car boot lids... bumper nudging...! Sunday riding not racing... social fun on fantastic trails... berms... rocks... drops... great views... the sun came out... service station burgers and caffeine hits... thanks to Martyn Salt and his crew... and finally thinking what will 2008 bring?... new organiser?... new sponsors?... Let's hope it's a good repeat.
