CUSTOM WHEEL BUILD SPOKES & LABOUR Spokes and Nipples...
You’ve chosen your hub and rim now you need some spokes and nipples.
We offer two types of spokes for a custom wheel build options.
Firstly is the DT Swiss Competition spoke which is the classic lightweight spoke for all round use. This would be the spoke used for a XC / All Mountain wheel set. The spokes are finished in both Silver and Black. Secondly we offer the DT Swiss Revolution for when high performance and weight saving is important, so ideally suited for XC race or XC.
For the nipples we recommend DT Swiss Brass nipples for performance and durability, we do also offer a DT Swiss Black Brass ProLock nipple where total reliability is important. This nipple used Loctite Thread Lock to prevent spokes from loosening, yet it will still allow spoke tension to be readjusted in the future. Combine this with a black electroplated finish for extra surface hardness.
DT Swiss Revolution Black Spokes & DT Swiss Brass ProLock Black 12mm Nipples
DT Swiss Competition Spoke Features
The 14 / 15 gauge double butted spoke is 1.8 mm thick in the centre to save weight, but 2 mm thick at the end where strength is needed
The butting process adds strength through cold forging of the metal
Made from X5 stainless steel, containing chrome for rust resistance and nickel for strength
The rolling of the nipple thread removes no metal from the spoke and preserves the grain of the material, maximising strength
When finished in black it uses an electro-chemical treatment that is durable, and does not weaken the spoke
DT Swiss Revolution Spoke Features
The 14 / 17 gauge double butted spoke is 1.5 mm thick in the centre to save the greatest amount of weight, but 2 mm thick at the end where strength is needed
The butting process adds strength through cold forging of the metal, and the shortest possible butts are used to save even more weight
