At Mountain Trax we see ourselves as your personal shopper advising on the most suitable products to meet your cycling needs. Most importantly we want you to ride away on your dream machine with a grin on your face. We all have many years of experience riding, selling and servicing the products so during the specification process can impart that knowledge to help you make an informed decision over why one product is more appropriate than another.

Hopefully you've test ridden our demo bikes on terrain where you will actually ride your new bike so have a good idea that you're buying the right model. Of which we pride ourselves on stocking frames from many different brands such as; Orange, Pace, Santa Cruz, Turner, Yeti, Whyte. Of course there are many size and colour combinations so if we haven't got the one you want in stock we can usually source delivery very quickly. This also applies to all the other component parts to your build; fork, brakes, transmission, wheels etc. Although we buy in many ready built wheels our expert in-house wheel builder can advise and build anything you want.

There are a few options to building your dream bike:

1. FRAME MANUFACTURERS 'OFF-THE-PEG' KIT
Choose an 'off-the-peg' build kit from the frame manufacturer. These are normally fixed in their content so you can't chop and change components. They offer different spec levels to meet your budget.

2. MOUNTAIN TRAX 'OFF-THE-PEG' KIT
Choose a Mountain Trax 'off-the-peg' build kit. These are a good starting point for riders who want a custom build but don't really have key components in mind. The kits comprise parts we recommend and they offer good value. The specification can be altered if required. More details on these coming soon whilst we finalise the spec's.

3. YOUR DREAM WISH LIST
This is the grand daddy of them all. With your suggestions and our recommendations we specify a complete build kit - your 'wish list'. Some customers simply say "I want you to build me a full-suspension bike that weighs under 22 lbs!" And yes we've done a few...but they're nearer 21 lbs! It's not all about light weight though, at the other end of the scale(s) we build freeride and downhill machines, plus road and cross bikes. Set your imagination and budget free!

4. TRANSFERRING FROM A DONOR BIKE
You may want to transfer parts from another bike, that's fine, but we'll need to check everything is compatible and in a fit state of repair. A full service is often a recommended addition if taking this route. Alternatively you may wish to source the parts yourself, but please be aware there is many a time a customer has done this and blindly ordered the wrong size or type. This incurs delays during the build - and you don't want to wait for your new bike just because you ordered the wrong front mech.

Free 6 Week Service
Every bike build includes a free 6 week service*. This allows for adjustments to be made when the bike has gone through it's initial bedding in period, and to perform a thorough safety check. If we built your wheels they are checked for trueness and re-tensioned.

* We reserve the right to charge for this service if it is beyond the 6 week period or rider usage and neglect has caused issues. Replacement parts are not included.
